Aiden
AY-den /ˈeɪ.dən/
Meaning of Aiden
Aiden is the anglicised spelling of the Irish Aodhán, a diminutive of Aodh — the Irish god of fire, from the Proto-Celtic root aidus ('fire'). Saint Aidan of Lindisfarne (d. 651) was an Irish monk who founded a monastery on the island of Lindisfarne and is credited with Christianising much of Northumbria. The Aiden/Aidan spelling variance reflects different anglicisation conventions.
