Fernando
fer-NAN-do /fɛrˈnæn.doʊ/
Meaning of Fernando
Fernando is the Spanish and Portuguese form of Ferdinand, from the Visigothic Ferdinandus — compounded from fardi ('journey, expedition') + nandus ('daring, ready'). The whole name means 'brave in the journey' or 'bold traveller.' Through the Spanish royal house (Ferdinand and Isabella, the Catholic Monarchs) the name became a pillar of Iberian naming throughout the colonial era.
