Meaning of Francisco
Francisco is the Spanish and Portuguese form of Francis, from the Medieval Latin Franciscus — 'Frankish man' or 'man from France.' Saint Francis of Assisi (1181–1226) adopted the name Franciscus as his religious name (his birth name was Giovanni), and through his enormous influence the name spread across Catholic Europe. Francisco has been a standard Iberian boys' name ever since.
