Ivy
EYE-vee /ˈaɪ.vi/
Meaning of Ivy
Ivy is from the Old English ifig — the climbing plant, associated with tenacity (ivy clings to walls), fidelity and eternity (it stays green year-round). Like Lily, Violet and Hazel, it belongs to the Victorian wave of plant-names for girls. Its modern revival is driven partly by Beyoncé and Jay-Z naming their daughter Blue Ivy in 2012, which pushed the name up sharply.
